Opera Prima. A project by Studio Eigen with the Iconica collection by Caesar
Opera Prima is a penthouse in Vigonza, in the province of Padua, designed by Studio Eigen, the practice of Filippo Carraro and Stefania Casarin, and completed in 2025 within a large residential space both indoors and outdoors. Every detail of the project reflects a deliberate choice, every material conveys a precise intention.
For the floors and wall coverings of the apartment, Studio Eigen selected the Iconica collection by Caesar: porcelain stoneware surfaces inspired by travertine that extend from the living area to the sleeping area and reappear on the bathroom and entrance walls, establishing the chromatic and perceptual foundation of the project. Opera Prima is organized around the relationship between these surfaces and the champagne liquid metal columns that mark the transition between the living and dining areas, in a balance that the title itself declares.

Iconica surfaces
Studio Eigen uses the Navona variant, the brightest of the three color options in the Iconica collection, through two complementary graphic configurations: Navona Contro, characterized by arabesques of clouded shades, and Navona Verso, defined by longitudinal streaks. Alongside these is Navona Verso Straight, a décor obtained by milling the 60×120 slab that introduces vertical grooves on the surface.
The interior flooring is made with 60x120 slabs of Navona Contro: the large slabs extend in an asymmetrical rhythm across the entire horizontal plane of the apartment.
The terrace uses Navona Verso in the 60x120 format: Navona Contro and Navona Verso belong to the same chromatic variant and share a substantial continuity of tone, which the project uses to connect indoor and outdoor spaces within the same palette.
Compositional choices
At the entrance, where a canaletto walnut bookcase acts as a narrative threshold towards the living area, Navona Verso appears as a wall covering with a multi-format layout. The longitudinal texture of the slab is broken down into small modules, producing a compact graphic surface next to the mass of the wood.
In the bathrooms the project develops two distinct solutions. In the guest bathroom the walls are clad with Navona Verso Straight 60x120 installed vertically: the grooves created by milling carve the surface, giving depth and design.
In the en-suite bathroom the project combines Navona Contro 120×120 in a straight installation with Navona Verso Straight 60x120 installed vertically.

The identity of the project
The Iconica collection by Caesar runs throughout the project alongside materials of different weight and character. Caesar made this coherence possible through the internal complementarity of the collection: Contro, Verso and Straight share the same chromatic base and are expressed in different applications—interior flooring, terrace, bathroom walls, entrance mosaic—while maintaining the integrity of the system.
