The new library originates from the restoration of the historic stables, with the use of Caesar surfaces as part of the design vision
Within the Stibbert Museum in Florence (www.museostibbert.it), the new Library forms part of a restoration project that fully restores usability to a space dedicated to study and research. The project takes shape within the historic rooms of the villa’s former stables, now reactivated as a cultural space integrated into the museum itinerary.

Design choices in balance with the building’s history
Within this framework, the choice of Caesar surfaces accompanies the intervention as a design decision consistent with the context. The surfaces contribute to defining the library spaces with a measured presence, in balance with the building’s historic character.
The Stibbert Museum Library brings together the book collection assembled by Frederick Stibbert and the heritage acquired by the museum over time. Two large ground-floor rooms house the volumes intended for specialist consultation and cultural activities, shaping a space capable of supporting diverse functions. In this setting, the Quartz Essence collection by Caesar is featured in the Wild variant and in the 60×60 format. The surface, inspired by a contemporary interpretation of quartz stone, contributes to the definition of a compact and continuous material background, suitable for a historic space and capable of coexisting with the various transformations the building has undergone over time.

A design vision mindful of history
The relationship between contemporary intervention and historic context develops through a sequence of carefully calibrated choices: ceramic surfaces take part in this composition, supporting spatial continuity and the perceptual quality of the interiors.
The Stibbert Museum Library presents itself as a renewed environment, capable of housing the museum’s book heritage. A project that interprets the value of the existing through a targeted intervention, in which Caesar surfaces also contribute to a design vision that is fully aware of its historical context.
