Porfirio’s Restaurant

The Porfirio’s restaurant chain, a member of the Anderson Group, recognised by Forbes in 2018 as one of the best restaurants in Mexico since its opening around 9 years ago, inaugurated its new premises in Guadalajara, the capital city of Jalisco state, in March this year.

Porfirio’s is an emblem of Mexican cuisine, which it re-interprets at the highest level in an innovative manner, offering traditional dishes with enormous elegance and unique flavours. The Guadalajara premises, covering 395 sq.m. and with a seating capacity of over 200 guests, have been designed by the Filipao Nunes architecture studio, and has won the “The International Hotel&Property Awards 2019” in the category “Restaurant Global 2019 Winner”.

The principal task of architect and interior designer Filipao Nunes was, starting with Mexican traditions, in terms both of cuisine and of the architecture of the age of Porfirio Diaz, to create a modern project characterised by a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

Walnut, brass laminates and tapestries: these are some of the materials selected to represent the vision of Porfirio’s in a modern key, using advanced construction techniques to showcase the history and philosophy of Mexican cooking.
The same expressive philosophy guided the decision to use Caesar ceramic tiles for the interior flooring. Two porcelain tile collections were chosen: Statuario Venato from the Anima collection (60x120 cm), and Root, in the Nocciola tonality (20x120 cm).

Anima expresses the essence of the most refined marble in a ceramic version which combines the refinement of the natural stone with the high performance of porcelain stoneware for outstanding strength and durability.

Oak, in its most rustic, warm version, is the inspiration for Root, featuring the detailed graphic markings characteristic of traditional craftsmanship.

Marble look - a contemporary classic

Today more than ever, in a time of uncertainty, having a home that fulfills the role of a cozy retreat and that is at the same time an expression of our personality and our needs is really important.

Renewing and rethinking your spaces, however, often turns out to be anything but simple.

The cyclical return of trends, specific moods and the consequent reinterpretation of styles and influences of the past in a current key, are dynamics that have always belonged to the world of fashion, but also interior design has subsequently welcomed and interpreted them with extreme naturalness: it is becoming increasingly common to come across residential or commercial projects in which the boundaries between classic and contemporary are far from defined, paving the way for contamination and eclectic mix of trends - and eras - apparently at the antipodes.

Hygiene and safety: the new recipe for a safe workplace

In the face of an infectious disease outbreak, how we protect our workers now clearly dictates how safe our communities are, and how resilient our businesses will be” - this was a statement made a few months ago by Guy Ryder, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO). He went on to add: “It is only by implementing occupational safety and health measures that we can protect the lives of workers, their families and the larger communities, ensure work continuity and economic survival”.
